Let us start with an example. You heard the name of Atal Bihari
Vajpayee, the beloved Prime Minister was a “great orator”, statesman and a Veteran Parliamentarian. His fiery speech in the Lok Sabha still resonates with many. Once he gave the speech what healthy democracy is, where he and Pandit Nehru despite different ideologies, never had enmity towards each other. But now these types of cases are very rare because they separate their professionalism and ego. At a point in time they both aware of their professionalism and wisdom. Professionalism is directly proportional to ethics. Ethics is the moral principle or code of morals which is practiced by a person or group of people.
Another common example like when you meet with delay in flights
and you reached your destination late by 5 hours (assume) but when
you interacted with airline employees with demonstrated courteous
professionalism makes you feel heard, which improved your useful
travel experience at least a little better. Or ,for other instance when you interacted with the employees of multinational companies and found glimmering professionalism in their behavior and attitude which also reflects the ethics, you will found them very discipline and descriptive. See it doesn’t matter what industry you are in, is constant air of professionalism will only serve to improve your interaction with bosses,colleagues,clients and anymore else you come across. To position yourself for this kind of
success start by developing some professional habits.
These are some common habits that one must have in their 20’s.
- Good communication skill:- It is very common skill that one must possess. James Cash Penney ,the founder of J.C Penney was known to say”the art of effective listening is essential to clear communication and clear communication is necessary to management success.This is not about just to give your message clearly but receives the message carefully and give people your full attention. It ultimately improves your overall personality and helps in growth of the individual.
- Maintain relationships:- You never know how someone may be valuable to you later in your career. Just keep in touch with old colleagues as professor but saying “Hi” on alternate month or
so, loosing relationship is not good at all. As you may lose your
achievement when you leave behind all the things you’ve done. - Proper dress up:- As we all know our dress up style is sort of
non-verbal communication and it might say a lot than your
mouth, just have an arsenal of work, appropriate clothing
choices and dress for job you want. It also helps you in working
environment as you can’t feel different among others. - Be punctual, show up to 10 minutes early:– Punctuality glanced
your interest towards the organization, if you are on time it
might shows you are taking the organization as a burden and
want to prove just that you’re on time(assume) ,but if you are
early then it seems that you are interested in participating in
the organization which is really appreciating. - Reading and Writings:- You should have a habit of reading like
newspapers, books, journals etc in order to gain that overwhelming experience from experienced one. Many big personalities like Bill Gates ,Mark Zuckerberg,Lt.Steve Jobs have a habit of reading books in addition you should also the number of writing styles like Reports, letter,journal etc.it helps in professional fields. - Know your worth:- There is a saying you know yourself better than anyone just don’t rely on someone or don’t make yourself down if you are here,there must be some reason don’t loose yourself and have a faith, by the time you’ve experienced some jobs you will realize than that how is it important to know your worth.
- Keep calm under pressure:- There is a time when things dominate you, but you should have that courage to fight with anything, nothing can disturb you, you should know that things get settled with time, and no pressure is permanent. Pressure makes you weak at that point but it makes you stronger and you get to know how to tackle the things professionally.
- Own up to mistakes:- It says a lot about the person if they can admit when they are wrong. It shows maturity and respectability as long as you’re not unnecessarily apologizing. If you are not making mistakes after mistake after mistake, you’ll already gain a lot of positive points by owning up when you do make one. It can be difficult to know how to best handle these situations, so feel free to read up on best practices for admitting your mistakes.
So, these are some habits you should follow which makes you
different and fascinating person and also takes you to the next
level of professionalism, after sometime of applying it you will
feel the difference, if you’ll feel that it’s like inherited in your
nature.
