A Guide to Successful Career Management

Introduction

Career management is an idiom that is formed of career and management and when we join them, we get the whole meaning of it.

Going deeper into this career means the future aspect of life and this does not only involve our professional life but also personal life because both complement each other.

The way we perform in our Professional Life will affect our Personal Life and vice- versa.

Management means to carry out the task in such an organized manner so that we can get maximum productivity with placing minimum production in it. That is with minimum resources, there should be maximum productivity and under premeditated structure.

Taking career and management together we get- how do we plan our future our personal and professional life we can maximize the efficiency of it in future.

It also includes: –

• Better fulfilment.
• Growth.
• Financial stability.

PROS AND CONS

Like everything in this world career management also have two sides: –

Pros

It is not fruitful without pre planning at whatever things we do things with plan we know the efficient result. We get a proper idea or we can say an image of something that we want to attain in life. Otherwise in unplanned life whatever we attain it feels enough of success. The biggest benefit of career management is optimization of time. When nothing is planned, we fail to recognize how to continue from first step to the next one everything become messed up for us. We move to analysis to follow the steps to succeed in our paths. On the other hand, if we plan things, we know what to approach and whom to approach so that we can attain our goal on time and at the end our life depends more on quality rather than quantity. For example if we are unorganized we would only agree to the fact that money is the only asset of the life and to earn money we do a lot of hard work and in this aspect we forget social as well as the quality aspect of our life which is to take care of our relation our mental health. But if everything is planned well, we can meet our basic needs more effectively and efficiently and work accordingly.

Cons

 First, this process is time consuming to achieve our desired goal. Second, we lose our efficiency as most of the time we do things but at the end we feel that work is not that much important.

For example- in our college we come across lots of our aspiration. Taking my own example, I wanted to do Journalism but due to improper management I am already enrolled in B.Tech career, if I would have been given my proper time for career management, I would have realized that communication was my forte and would have done better in that field. We fail to understand our destiny. Last, is the severe case i.e. if we don’t think career early in life, we won’t be able to switch back to it. For example, if we want to proceed with medical for that if we don’t take initiative in our 11^th and 12^th and if we realize that later, we might end up doing some other Course eg. btech and will not have option to change rather than to do drop out from our career.

Right time to start career management and what to do if we are late

To know that we have to answer only three questions they are: –

1. As early as possible
2. Whenever you want to
3. Right now, when you are reading this passage. If you are late you need start right now.

All these points depend upon what profession we choose in our life like if we want to be a judge or lawyer we need to do a lot of hard work from the starting we need to do LLB, PG lots more and practice under professional an give it an early on there are some jobs like software or it profession we don’t need to prove ourselves we just need to maintain that 65% -70% consistency in our 12^th or in our graduation and we can proceed whenever we want and profession like IAS or UPSC we can take this career we can start preparing for it with our graduation time as well. There is certain aspect of profession as I mentioned my example of doing journalism instead of btech because at that time I don’t know have the idea of having a diploma degree from any other college and follow my passion.

How to decide your favorite career

It includes following steps: –

1. Identify your forte where you excel in your career from your school days and try to analyze that and you can make it a payable option.
2. To decide- it comes when the 1^st option fails that you never been awarded or being recognized or you never took part in any co- curricular activities and you are not good at studies then even how to decide your career the answer lies within you like if your preference you can do a lot of hard work and money is your end goal then you can proceed with trading, real state, digital marketing or entrepreneurship etc. where if our idea work we can make a lot of money. Now we don’t have money and some need job satisfaction or fame is our motto then we can proceed with art and culture, music, movies, modelling, youtuber where we will get fame rather than money and now if we want a proper image profession we can go for ministry ,external affairs, principal etc.so decide according to facet of your motivation

How to proceed after making decision

First make two kind of plans: long term and short term. Write down how do you want to proceed in next 10 years because written things gives us realization that we have reach here we have a defined goal we need that much money to reach the goal that comes under long term goal and second is short term to identify what we need to do in our long term for every single day week or months. Third one we need a proper planning for that we need.

1. Read books/autobiography related to our field.
2. Make contact with like-minded people.Follow sites you demo which provide career related motivation.
3. Next, we can go for IGNOU from where we can enroll in different career staying in one university only like JNU.
4. If you not into your profession you can make mentor from your field who is successful and ask them to guide you in real time scenario and practical scenario.
