Audience can is the superior who can decides within seconds if they trust the speaker on stage. only seconds are required to look and to determine the speaker by seeing how he or she presents him- or herself. If they don’t trust the speaker, it didn’t matter what he or she is speaking, they didn’t want to be understood. First expression of the speaker is its last expression.
No one should ever underestimate the most important thing in a public speaking and presentations i.e. the body language. Giving the wrong vibes, and you’ll end up by losing your audience. But with the right body language, you can gain them easily.
What Is Body Language??
Body language is your body’s way of communicating without the use of the words spoken . It’s the combination of many things like facial expressions, gestures, and movements of hands that convey what goes on in your mind that lead the audience what they understood.
The speaker or the presenter will often try to sound confident, but their body language will speak it’s confidence level . Or, they’ll say something like, “I’m happy coming here,” but their facial expressions and their gestures say they are really not.
As communication is important in every individual’s life same is with the body language or expressions. It reflects what the person standing before you is feeling or thinking. It gives the innermost impact on the audience about the speaker and they can easily judge the speaker on the basis of their postures, body language or non verbal clues.
Coming to the importance part so yes it is very important while giving a presentation. Firstly can easily develops a trust among the audience. Audience can easily judge the speaker and it helps speaker to convey his or her messages to the audience in very efficient and effective way. Secondly, most importantly the dressing sense. How the speaker is dressed can give positive or negative impact on the viewers. So make sure to dress in the formal or decent way while giving presentation or public speaking. Thirdly, eye contact should be there. No eye contact means no confidence. So keep in the mind to make eye contact with the audience then only they will listen you properly and understand you. It helps in enhancing the interest level of the audience. “If no eye contact then you are not a good speaker”.
Your gestures or postures should be so attractive. You should believe as if you are an attractive leader. Be like this always while expressing yourself in front of the audience. You must be full of thoughts, knowledge, with positive mindsets while giving presentation.
Communication skills is also important. Give your presentation like you have never given it before. Always speak in clear language which should be understood by the audience. Avoid ambiguity as much as you can. Make it like you are giving your best.
In today scenario 7% are used as spoken words 38% are tone of voice and 55% used as body language that is non verbal. Now you can image how much important is the non verbal clues like body language and facial expressions in the nation eyes. In every organization or at office place each and every person can easily judge you on the basis of your body language. Same as the case with public speaking. You should mention a bold figure while giving a speech that will really inspires or motivates your audience.
Make sure no shrinking of hand or legs. This will make all your efforts waste. Make your presentation very interesting session and motivating too. Make like if the audience is learning something. This will happen only by one thing your body language. Your body language is like a leg of the table if legs got broken table will fall down same as the case with your body language if your body language is impressing attractive bold like a leader then you will rock while giving presentation. Make you presentation as it will be your first and last chance.
Final Thoughts on the Importance of Body Language
To get known your audience is a pretty useful skill which will come after too much practice and takes time to develop . I think no one wants to be one of those presenters or speaker who thinks they are doing a great job onstage but in reality they’re boring their audience.
The body language says so much about you as a presenter or the speaker. It can also make it happen or make it worst . Take the time to practice not just your speech and your presentation slides, but also work on your body language to make the speaking more attractive . You’ll have an engaged audience, and your presentation’s or the speaking message will be heard and understood.
