‘It is hard to live in Rome and fight with pope’! , a common proverb
everyone might have heard somewhere or the other and many people might even had experienced it. Working with people that get on your nerves day and night in your workplace, was this the career you always wanted to have?
Yes, a big question mark, isn’t it? That’s a bitter reality.
You are disgruntled with your job, you feel annoyed, overburdened, going
every day to your job is nothing more than a matter of headache, you easily
get exasperated by any one, and above all these ,you are also envisaged to
balance your personal life with your professional one and balancing your
passion areas too.
It is been said that ‘god created mother because he can’t be present
everywhere at a time’, but I say ‘Devils created bosses because they can’t be
present everywhere at a time’! So till here I hope the importance of building a career that aligns with your purpose is clear enough to move forward with the tips by which you can really do this.
- Choose your passion areas: You might have come across a lot of times when you see people chooses the area of study what their parents feel right for them, sometimes what teachers feel, sometimes they chooses what their friends choose. Here you lose your interest areas, your passion points, your expertise areas and ends up with opting something which is others passion point in which you need to do great efforts to achieve expertise. Do you really feel performing someone else’s passion will align your career goals? Have courage to do what you feel is good for you. Believe in yourself and in your intuitions.
- Get out of your comfort zone : When was the first time you did something for the first time? It has been perfectly said “ If you want something in your life you’ve never had, you have to do something, you’ve never done”. Because magic happens at the end of your comfort zone. Do not wait for an opportunity, go and create a one for yourself.
- Run after knowledge, not money: If you are at the initial stage of your career then try to excel in the areas you are dealing in. Work so hard in that area that no one else can contradict the knowledge you have acquired. Have an edge over your colleagues, try to learn from your peers. Do not run after money. If you have knowledge, money itself will follow you. It will lead to your promotion, recognition and hence your growth in the organisation.
- Educate yourself: The person gets appreciated when he has an intense and vivid knowledge of his field. Even more he is adored when he has diverse knowledge of different co-related field. This makes him a multi-skilled, and all-rounder. Learning shall never be stopped. If you are inter pass, try to go for graduation, post-graduation, try to learn from various diplomas etc. Education not only increases the knowledge but also widens the perspective, ability to think, ability to comprehend, to analyse etc.
- Inculcate professionalism: When you are at work, you are representative of the organisation for doing that particular work. So inculcate professional behaviour at your workplace, keeping personal prejudices and opinions aside. Emotional quotient is nothing but a barrier to the growth.
- Accept your past: You have a control on your future, not on your past. You cannot correct it. Detach yourself from your past. Accept the life you have got, the upbringing you have got, it was nothing but an act of god, what was written in your fate. You have no control over it. Let bygone be bygones. Accept your past as soon as possible, and do a firm determination that whatever has been happened in past will not happen in future
